Janet Coppess

Greetings. My name is Janet Coppess. I have been teaching for 35 years. I taught for seven years in Heyburn, Idaho, home of Simplot and French fries. I have been teaching at Oakbrook Elementary for 28 years. I have taught 4th, 5th, 6th, and 4/5th GT.
I earned my B.A. from Eastern Washington University. I earned my teaching certificate and MA from Pacific Lutheran University. In 2005, I earned my National Board Certification and in 2014 I renewed it for another 10 years. Whew! In 2011, I earned my endorsement in gifted education through Whitworth University.
My vision is for my students to become independent learners. They can accomplish this by developing a growth mindset and taking charge of their learning. The path to independence is a process. It will be achieved with hard and continuous work. This process needs to be supported by students, teachers, and parents. We are all integral parts of the education of your child. What an exciting and challenging journey!
