Dear Oakbrook Families,
Finish Strong, Oakbrook!
As we head into the final stretch of the school year, May and June are filled with meaningful learning, celebrations, and important transitions. This is a time for our students to finish strong—both academically and in how they show up each day as Oakbrook Eagles.
Important Dates
- May 4–8 Staff Appreciation Week; Smarter Balanced Assessment (SBA) testing window begins (Grades 3–5)
- May 22 & May 25 No School (Memorial Day)
- June 1-4 Eagle Week Fun
- June 5 Field Day
- June 9 (1:00 PM) 5th Grade Celebration
- June 10 Last Day of School (Early Dismissal)
Finish Strong: The Oakbrook Way
We continue to emphasize what it means to be Respectful, Responsible, and Safe in all settings—classrooms, playground, and cafeteria.
- Respectful: Use kind words, build positive relationships, and value others
- Responsible: Give your best effort, follow directions, and complete your work
- Safe: Make choices that keep yourself and others physically and emotionally safe
We ask families to partner with us by reinforcing these expectations at home. Together, we can ensure every student ends the year with pride and purpose.
Academic Focus
Learning continues all the way through the last day of school. Students will be:
- Engaging in meaningful reading and math practice
- Participating in SBA assessments (Grades 3–5)
- Applying skills through projects, small groups, and targeted support
Encouraging your child to read daily and stay engaged makes a big difference during these final weeks.
Thank you for your continued partnership and support. Our Oakbrook community is strong because of you. Let’s work together to ensure every student finishes the year strong!
Regards,
Leila Davis
